You began the good-bye,
it was nearly Christmas
and you used a thick nib,
a jungle of strokes
patterning disengagement

There was no affair
just colours and dances,
a terrible film,
bangers at a classy pub
by the River Severn

You thought that life
was often hard for me
over the last few years.
But it is not me
who will be missed
